Privacy Policy

This policy applies to websites and online services operated by Motorcar Exchange, LLC (“Motorcar Exchange,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). It covers information collected through our websites, vehicle inquiry and seller forms, email, telephone, and related online interactions. It does not apply to third-party services we do not control.

Depending on your interaction, we may collect:

• Identifiers and contact information: name, email, phone number, mailing address, IP address, and similar identifiers.
• Vehicle and commercial information: vehicle year, make, model, condition, history, photographs or documents you provide, asking price, purchase or sale interests, inquiry history, and transaction-related information.
• Internet or network activity: pages viewed, referring pages, visit dates and times, browser and device data, approximate location derived from IP address, and site interactions.
• Communications and professional information: company or role details and content you submit in forms, email, or other communications.
• Limited inferences: likely interests in vehicle types or services based on the information above.

Do not submit government identification numbers, financial account credentials, precise geolocation, health information, or other highly sensitive information through ordinary website forms. If a transaction later requires additional information, we will request it through an appropriate channel.

We collect information directly from you; automatically from your browser or device; from service providers supporting hosting, analytics, communications, form delivery, security, professional services, and transactions; and from public or business sources relevant to a vehicle or requested service.

• Respond to buyer, seller, inventory, brokerage, consignment, and general inquiries.
• Evaluate vehicles, facilitate transactions, and administer customer relationships.
• Operate, secure, troubleshoot, analyze, and improve our websites and services.
• Communicate about requests, transactions, operational matters, and permitted marketing.
• Detect fraud, abuse, security incidents, or harmful activity.
• Comply with law, enforce agreements, and establish or defend legal claims.

We may disclose relevant information to vendors and service providers for website hosting, analytics, form processing, email delivery, security, inspections, transportation, photography, professional services, and transaction support. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a financing, merger, sale, or business transfer.

We do not sell personal information for money and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising. We have not sold or shared personal information for those purposes in the preceding 12 months. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct-marketing use.

Our websites and hosting platform may use cookies, local storage, pixels, logs, and similar technologies for operation, security, analytics, and form functionality. Analytics data may include IP address, browser and device characteristics, referring pages, and pages viewed. You can manage cookies in your browser, though blocking them may affect functionality.

Because there is no uniform standard, we do not respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals. Where legally required and technically supported, we treat a recognized opt-out preference signal such as Global Privacy Control as an opt-out request. We currently do not sell or share personal information for purposes requiring such an opt-out.

We retain each category only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here. The period depends on the nature of an inquiry or transaction, the customer relationship, vehicle provenance and transaction records, accounting and tax duties, dispute periods, security needs, and applicable law. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete, deidentify, or securely dispose of it.

Depending on your state and subject to exceptions, you may have rights to request access or confirmation; correction; deletion; a portable copy; and information about categories, sources, purposes, and recipients. Some states also provide rights to opt out of sale, targeted advertising, or certain profiling and to appeal a denial.

We may verify your identity and authority. Authorized agents may submit requests where permitted. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right. To appeal a denial, reply to our decision or submit “Privacy Appeal” through the same channels.

For California residents, the categories collected in the preceding 12 months may include identifiers; customer records; commercial and vehicle information; internet or network activity; professional information; and limited inferences. Sources, purposes, and recipient categories are described above.

To the extent the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended (“CCPA”), applies, California residents may request to know, access, correct, or delete covered personal information and may receive a portable copy. Residents also have rights to opt out of sale or sharing and to limit certain uses of sensitive personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA and do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes requiring a right-to-limit notice.

California’s “Shine the Light” law permits certain requests about disclosure for third parties’ own direct marketing. We do not make those disclosures.

Our websites are for a general audience and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child provided information so we can review and delete it as appropriate.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the information. No transmission or storage method is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

You may opt out of promotional email through the message’s unsubscribe instructions or by contacting us. We may still send non-promotional communications about an inquiry, transaction, service, safety matter, or legal notice.

We may link to restoration shops, auction platforms, transportation providers, social networks, maps, payment providers, and other third parties. Their own policies govern their practices.

We may update this policy for changes in law, technology, services, or practices. We will post the revision here, change the effective date, and provide additional notice for material changes where required.
